Highlighting her first-year record of results and re-dedicating her lifelong passion for community service, Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) will seek election to the newly redrawn 38th District seat in 2012. The 38th District serves the people of Grundy, LaSalle, Bureau, Putnam, Will and Kendall counties.

Rezin has been a leading voice to restore fiscal sanity to Illinois and make state government live within its means. She opposed the Quinn budget because it overspent, over-borrowed and over-taxed. Rezin has sponsored legislation to roll back the Quinn tax hike, reduce elected officials pay, eliminate the costly and much-abused General Assembly scholarships, and sell the State’s fleet of luxury aircraft.

Rezin has been recognized as an outspoken advocate for Illinois’ leading job creators — the  men and women of small business — through her efforts to advance pro-growth state economic policies and her steadfast opposition to excessive regulation, litigation and taxation on Illinois’ employers.

Rezin also serves as the ranking Republican on the Senate's Environment committee, giving her the ability to oversee legislation affecting drinking water safety, as well as most environmental and agricultural regulations.

Rezin is also a member of the Energy, Appropriations II, Agriculture and Conservation and Commerce Committees. Rezin was recently appointed to the Veterans Advisory Council. The council has the authority to advise the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and study issues and concerns affecting Illinois veterans.

“I’m looking forward to being able to work on legislation that advances energy production at home,” Rezin said, “and to continue advocating for the people, businesses, and industries of the 38th District. I will continue to work with business and labor to encourage job growth.”

The 38th District is home to three nuclear power plants, miles of windmills, hydro-power plants, ethanol and biodiesel plants, and two oil refineries.

Rezin continues to be an active volunteer as a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois for the past 22 years and was recently recognized in Chicago and presented with the “Leaders In Joy” award. Additionally, she served on the Morris Hospital Foundation Board, Community Foundation Board and was a member of the Board of Directors for We Care. Rezin has also been a volleyball coach for 12 years.
