Community preparedness project in the works

Published: Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 6:58 a.m. CST

Local health departments across the state are focusing efforts on a five-year Community Preparedness project.

The Grundy County Health Department office of Emergency Preparedness will reach out to businesses and organizations as well as individuals and families throughout this five-year project to help them create emergency plans for themselves and show the community how they can help each other if disaster strikes.

Statistics show that less than 25 percent of households have even started to prepare for an emergency.

For more information on how to start preparing for an emergency, contact the emergency response coordinator at (815) 941-3123.
