Joliet man sentenced for battering bailiff
Andre Ross, 24, of Joliet, has been sentenced to 250 days in the Will County Adult Detention Facility following his conviction for battery against a Will County Court Bailiff that occurred when Ross attempted to flee from custody in the Will County Courthouse on July 9, 2012.
ILSAAP named former Grundy County State’s Attorney Dave Neal as special prosecutor for this case.
The defendant entered a plea of guilty, a Class A Misdemeanor, on Oct. 3. Neal recommended a jail sentence of 250 days advising the court that, “A lengthy jail sentence in this case is absolutely necessary to send a strong message that violence within our courthouse will never be tolerated.”
Associate Judge Ronald J. Gerts approved the State’s recommendation and sentenced Ross to incarceration for 250 days plus a fine and court costs in excess of $500.
