Kenneth H. Scholey

WILMINGTON, Ill. — Mr. Kenneth H. Scholey, 44, of Wilmington, Ill., passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Provena Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Kankakee.

A memorial visitation with video tribute will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. in Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, Wilmington.

Born June 10, 1968, in Joliet, Ill., Ken was a son of the late James C. and Martha Howard-Scholey. He was raised in Wilmington, graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1986, and earned his Associate's Degree from Joliet Junior College.

On June 6, 2000, Ken married Tina M. McMahon in Wheaton, Ill., and together they lived in Gardner, Ill., prior to moving to Wilmington. Ken was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and will be remembered for his love of playing on pool leagues, fishing and camping. He enjoyed the ocean and beach, cherished his dog, Shadow, and was a great Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife, Tina; three step-children, Elizabeth (Jason) Strigle of Minnesota, Keith Redman (Katie Teague) of Indiana, and Ted McMahon of Lincoln, Ill.; one granddaughter, Jaiden; two sisters, Michelle (Pete) Profilet of Texas and Delores (Howard, III) Howard of Texas; one brother, Tony (Denise) Scholey of Aurora, Ill.; his mother-in-law, Irene (Richard) Banning of Florida; his father-in-law, Ralph (Daisy) McMahon of Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Newman of Tennessee and Sonya (Brent) Dermody of Utah; one brother-in-law, John (Jennifer) Grant of Joliet; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as his lifelong close friend John Kinnett of Wilmington.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jimmy; two sisters, Kathleen and Sandra; and his step father-in-law, Ernie Stewart.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ken’s memory to his family for their distribution.
