Grand jury returns indictments against 13

The Grand Jury of the Grundy County Circuit Court met Nov. 7 and came back with the following indictments:

• Emmanuel Esparza, 25, of Calumet Park, was indicted on an Oct. 29 charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. According to the indictment, Esparza unlawfully possessed a substance containing alprazolam.

Deputy Brett Black of the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department testified.

• Nathanial J. Tvrz, 19, of 303 W. North Street, was indicted on a Sept. 21 through Sept. 22 charge of theft, a Class 3 felony. Tvrz allegedly stole rolls of wire valued at over $500 from AT&T, Inc., the indictment stated.

Det. Eric Werden of the Morris Police Department testified.

• Sherwin J. Heyward, 40, of St. George, S.C., was indicted on Oct. 18 charges of unlawful possession of cannabis, a Class 2 felony, and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 1 felony. According to the indictment, Heyward allegedly possessed between 2,000 and 5,000 grams of a substance containing cannabis and had intent to deliver.

Sandro Keo, 31, of Fresno, Calif., who was arrested during the same incident, was indicted on the same charges.

Director Vic Markowski of the Metropolitcan Area Narcotics Squad testified.

• Christina L. Eddy, 35, was indicted on a July 24 charge of driving with a revoked license, a Class 4 felony. She allegedly drove while her licensed was revoked and had a least one prior violation of that, the indictment said. Her current revocation was for driving under the influence.

Morris Police Department Officer Derek Zumbahlen testified.

• Daniel J. Ottney, 47, of Petaluma, Calif., was indicted on an Oct. 8 charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. He allegedly possessed a substance containing heroin, the indictment stated.

Illinois State Police Trooper Ken Gurney testified.

• William J. Bonner, 26, of Chicago, was indicted on an Oct. 5 charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. According to the indictment, he possessed less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.

Dept. Sean Wojtczak of the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department testified.
