A Mazon woman was taken to Morris Hospital Friday after a two-vehicle crash in Morris.

According to the Morris Police Department report, the crash involved a 2001 Mercury Villager driven by Elizabeth A. Plott, 71, of Mazon, and a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Carol S. Button, 69, of 809 E. Benton Street.

Button told police she was traveling east on Benton Street and stopped for a red light at Division Street. When the light turned green, she reportedly proceeded into the intersect and was struck by Plott, who was traveling north on Division Street.

A witness told police she was in the southbound left turning lane on Division Street, stopped at the red light when she saw Plott’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lane and disobeyed the red light, striking the side of Button, who had the green light.

According to the report, Plott reportedly told a witness she did not remember if she had the right of way.

Plott was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. She was also cited for disobeying a traffic control signal.
