Morris adds its support to hydroelectric

Plan includes project at Dresden Island

The Morris City Council has joined Grundy County and other neighboring communities in supporting Dresden Island and Brandon Road hydroelectric projects.

Northern Illinois Hydropower is looking to create two hydroelectric facilities to utilize water from the rivers to generate electricity, said Mayor Richard Kopczick after the meeting. They are looking for support from the municipalities even though there is no tax dollar gain for Morris.

I will support it if it helps to lower my property taxes
I oppose it because I don't believe it will impact property taxes and I will just pay twice
I'm against any additional taxes
