CHANNAHON — The Channahon Park District is offering several opportunities to celebrate the holidays:
Santa’s Mailbox
Santa’s elves have installed a mailbox at Arrowhead Community Center, 24856 West Eames St., Channahon, from Dec. 1-10.
Santa has informed the Channahon Park District that he will write back to all the children who put a letter into this mailbox.
His only request is that all children include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Santa’s Skating Party
Join Santa and his elves at Skateland Recreation Center to celebrate the holidays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
Children can skate, play Santa’s favorite holiday games and visit with Santa.
Santa will share his favorite treats with all the children and bring a few surprises, too.
The pre-registration fee for the event is $6 for residents, $7 for non-residents or $8 at the door which includes basic skate rental (one non-skating adult is free per paid child).
Skateland Recreation Center is located at 25334 West Eames St. in Channahon.
Winter Wonderland
Make some special memories with friends and family at the Winter Wonderland event from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Heritage Bluffs Public Golf Club, 24355 West Bluff Road, Channahon.
Live reindeer are back by popular demand. Families can pet and get a photo with a real reindeer.
You’ll also enjoy carolers, horse drawn carriage rides, ice sculptor and even a candy cane hunt. The candy cane hunt will take place at 11 a.m.
After the candy cane hunt, get set to be entertained by ‘Those Funny Little People’ as seen on “America’s Got Talent.” The show begins at 11:30 a.m.
New this year is a tree raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold at event (cash only). You can also enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate, decorate sugar cookies and make a winter wonderland craft. This is a free community event.
Dress for the weather, some activities take place outside.
