Woman hospitalized after hitting a semi

A Joliet woman was transported to a Joliet hospital following a rear-end collision with a semi Wednesday morning in Seward Township.

According to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report, the crash took place at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Ridge Road and U.S. 52, when a vehicle driven by Rhonda L. Spilotro, 23, of Joliet, struck the rear of a semi driven by Mario Flores, 38, of Crest Hill.

The semi was reportedly stopped at the intersection and the accident took place while there was heavy fog.

Spilotro was transported by Troy EMS to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. She was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, no proof of insurance, and for an expired registration sticker.
