Genealogy lecturer to offer research advice
Szabados to lead Jan. 10 program at Morris Library
Are you interested in learning about your family’s history but don’t know where to start?
The Morris Area Public Library will hold a program titled “Find Your Family History: Steps to Get Started” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013.
Stephen Szabados, author of “Find Your Family History,” reviews a process that will help everyone start their research. He also gives hints that will help to make research successful. The author draws from his own genealogical experiences to describe the resources that are available and how to use them to find ancestors and their history. Both Internet and archival research efforts will be covered.
Stephen Szabados is a genealogy lecturer and author. He has traced his ancestors back to the 1600s in New England and the 1730s in Poland, Germany, Bohemia and Slovenia.
He has given numerous presentations to genealogical groups and libraries in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. His goal is to share his passion for family history. Copies of his book will be on sale at the program.
This program is free and open to the public. Please visit the library or call (815)942-6880 to register.
