Marcella A. Wollenweber

YORKVILLE, Ill. — Mrs. Marcella A. Wollenweber, 95, of Yorkville, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Hillside Rehab and Care Center in Yorkville.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Cross Lutheran Church, 8609 Illinois 47, Yorkville. Interment will follow in the Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Yorkville.

Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Parkway, Yorkville.

Born on Dec. 5, 1917, in rural Kendall County, Ill., she was the daughter of Elmer W. and Selma (Christofferson) Johnson. Marcella was united in marriage on Aug. 31, 1939, in Newark, Ill., to Mr. Russell Wollenweber and they spent the next 67 happy years together until his passing on March 13, 2007.

She was an active lifetime member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, where she took part in the Ladies Aid, LWML, the Lutheran Child Family Services, church choir and altar guild. Marcella was a very talented seamstress and, for many years, did alterations on bridal gowns at the Jacqueline Shop in Oswego, Ill.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Marcella is survived by her daughters, Judy (Chuck) Steele of Yorkville and Norma (Harold) Carlson of Morris, Ill.; her grandchildren, Gregory (Deidre) Carlson of Morris, Paula (Stacey) Birdsong of Mattoon, Ill., and Teri Steele of Yorkville; her great-grandchildren, Alora, Jared, Zackary and Breenah Carlson and Hayden and Haley Birdsong; her sister, Eleanor Vogen of Santa Rosa, Calif.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell Wollenweber; her grandson, Todd Allen Steele; her brothers, Gordon and Olaf Johnson; and two sisters, Isabella Weeks and Mary Jane Toftoy.
