The Newark Drama Team, which performed at Morris Community High School on Dec. 3, is joined by MCHS Drama Club Leader Andrea Gustafson and Morris Community High School Drama Club Officers.

The Newark drama team performed their play “Ricochet: Regret, Rewind, Redo” on Monday, Dec. 3, for Morris Community High School and local elementary school students.

Under the direction of Elizabeth Wheeler, the members of the Newark drama club researched bullying and created a play that not only addressed that issue, but also incorporated some of the students’ personal experiences.

Among the topics discussed were the different forms of bullying —school, cyber, and sexting — the signs to watch for if someone is being bullied, misconceptions and exclusion. The skits and monologues presented by the students were interspersed with videos and moments of humor.

The program also focused on encouraging students to report any bullying they witness or experience to their “go to” person — the person they feel most comfortable confiding in.
