Jan. 16 seminar will look closer at PTSD
Pre-registration due by Jan. 11 for free half-day event
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) will be explored in a free half-day educational seminar on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, organized by the Behavioral Health Alliance of Grundy County.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that occurs as a result of a traumatic event. People can suffer from PTSD for a variety of reasons.
The event is open to anyone who is interested in this important topic and will be held at First Christian Church, 455 W. Southmor Road, Morris.

Registration will open at 8 a.m., with presenters to follow from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Continental breakfast will be available.
An informational table will be provided for agencies and other organizations to disseminate information about their services or topics related to PTSD.
The presentation schedule is as follows:
• 8:30 a.m. – Dr. Ronald Wuest, Medical Director of the Institute for Personal Development: PTSD from a general perspective.
• 9:25 a.m. – Jennifer Aleksic, M.S., LPC, NCC, Premier Academy Counselor: PTSD among children and adolescents.
• 10:20 a.m. – Alexandria Prisco, LCPC, AMT Counseling Management Services: PTSD in domestic situations.
• 11:15 a.m. – Rene E. Pichler-Mowry, Ph.D., and Dr. Christa Marshall, Hines V.A. Hospital: PTSD among active military and veterans.
Attendees who want Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) will be able to purchase them at a cost of $10 for LCSW/MSW, LCPC/LPC, IOADAPCA, and ISBE. There is a separate registration process to arrange CEUs.
