Library to hold program about the history of Pearls in the Midwest

The Morris Area Public Library will be hold a program titled, “A History of Pearls in the Midwest” presented by Elise Kendrot, an instructor in the Fine Arts department of Joliet Junior College.  The program will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

Natural American pearls are among the oldest and rarest of universal gems.  These pearls are found in many different species of mussels in American rivers and lakes. The Mississippi River is known to the world for providing some of the rarest of gems.
