Morris Hospital offers diabetes education programs in January

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has announced its schedule of free diabetes education programs for January.

A Diabetes Academy will be offered from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Channahon Park District, 24856 West Eames Street in Channahon.

This program will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of diabetes and the seven healthy lifestyle interventions that are needed for complete diabetes self care.

A Carbohydrate Counting class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Morris Hospital. The class covers label reading, carb counting and meal planning, along with a live cooking demonstration.

Diabetes affects 25.8 million Americans. Whether a person is newly diagnosed or has been living with diabetes his or her entire life, managing diabetes is key to a healthy life. Registration is not required for diabetes programs at Morris Hospital. All programs are free. For more information, call 815-942-705-7533.
