RICL having visible economic impact in downstate Flora, Ill.

Published: Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 4:58 a.m. CDT

There has been an enormous amount of misinformationabout the Rock Island Clean Line project and whether or not they will be using Illinois companies for products and services.

As Mayor of Flora, Ill., a small community of 5,000 located in downstate Illinois, we are home to Southwire. I can tell you the $70M order of conduit for the Clean Line project is significant both for the city of Flora and Southwire.

Per capita income in Flora is 30 percent less than the Illinois average and more than 25 percent less than the national average.

An order ofthis size will have the production lines at Southwire humming day and night.

Flora is proud to be home to Southwire and thrilled to provide the workforce to manufacture the conduit for the Rock Island Clean Line project.
