The additional service is being offered as a convenience to residents working or living in the surrounding communities. Same day CT appointments are available.
The new CT is a GE BrightSpeed with ASiR technology, which delivers up to 40 percent less radiation dose with no compromise in image quality.
A CT is a special type of test that produces cross-sectional images of the body using x-rays and a computer. It is routinely used by physicians to evaluate illness or injury to the brain, neck, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis or sinuses. It also assists physicians in further evaluating abnormalities seen on other tests, such as ultrasound, traditional x-ray or MRI.
Along with CT, Morris Hospital offers x-ray, ultrasound and mammography at the Ridge Road Campus. All diagnostic imaging studies are interpreted by board certified radiologists on the Morris Hospital medical staff.
The hospital is linked to the Ridge Road Campus through a sophisticated and secure computer network, allowing the radiologists to access and view the images just as though they were physically present on site.
In addition to adding a BrightSpeed CT to the Ridge Road Campus, Morris Hospital is replacing both CT scanners at the hospital with upgraded models. One is a BrightSpeed CT just like the model at the Ridge Road Campus. The other is an Optima 660.
All three scanners will result in overall better image quality, faster scanning time, and reduced radiation exposure for patients who have their CT testing down through Morris Hospital.
In addition to diagnostic imaging services, the Morris Hospital Ridge Road Campus offers Immediate Care, Occupational Medicine, and Laboratory Services, as well as offices for Dr. Scott Ciechna, family medicine physician; Dr. Rita Hart, pediatrician; Dr. Lawton Moy, internal medicine and pediatrician; and Dr. Heather Wakefield, general surgeon.
