YORKVILLE, Ill. — The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a suicide involving a male subject in the Kendall County Courthouse parking lot.

The investigation began after receiving a 911 call at 1:46 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in reference to a man with a gun in the Kendall County Courthouse parking lot.

When deputies arrived, they found a man on the ground who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

As the investigation progressed, video surveillance at the Kendall County Courthouse showed the man standing with a shotgun just outside his car that was parked on the far west side of the parking lot.

The man put the shotgun to his head and a single shot was discharged from the weapon.

The man was by himself at the time he took his life. The only person that sustained injuries was the subject that shot himself.

The identity of the man is not being released pending notification of the subject’s family.
