Farabaugh to lead program on genealogy

OTTAWA, Ill. — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. on Jan. 19, at the Guild Library, 115 West Glover St., Ottawa, with Kane Farabaugh presenting the program regarding the genealogy of his family.

Kane is an experienced television, radio and online news reporter and correspondent. His career began as a broadcaster in the U.S. Air Force at the American forces network in Korea and then Japan. He has reported from the front lines of war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and has covered news events ranging from U.S. Presidential electors to the Olympics.

Kane is a dedicated Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow and recipient of the 2011-2012 District 6420 New Rotarian of the Year award. He serves on the board of directors of the Ottawa Historical and Scouting Heritage Museum, and is a board member with the Ottawa Township High School Educational Foundation.

He is currently the Midwest Bureau Chief Correspondent for Voice of America.
