Gov. Quinn urges Illinoisans to join in ‘Day of Service’
Volunteers needed for several opportunities during MLK Day
CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn Friday joined the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and the Serve Illinois Commission in encouraging Illinoisans to take part in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 21. This year’s theme is “A Day On, Not a Day Off.”
“Dr. King’s life was dedicated to service, and in his memory we should each strive to give back to our communities,” IDHS Secretary Michelle R.B. Saddler said. “We all have something to contribute and share to make Illinois an even better place.”
