State police still seek driver in U.S. 150 crash
(MCT) — LeROY — Police were still looking Monday for a man who left the scene of an accident near LeRoy late Friday night that left two people injured.
Rescue personnel were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at 10:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. 150, east of LeRoy. Witnesses told police that before first responders arrived, one of the drivers fled the scene on foot.
Illinois State Police later identified him as driver James Odom, 46, of Gibson City.
Police say they have received information that Odom survived the crash and the winter weather but remains at large. He is being sought for further investigation into why he left the scene, police said.
Injured in the accident were Odom’s passenger, Ricky Odom, 53, of Mount Vernon and the driver of the other car, Ruben Rodriguez, 22, of Bloomington. Both were treated at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, and released.
James Odom’s car was eastbound from LeRoy when it crossed the center line and collided with Rodriguez’s car, state police said.
On Friday night and Saturday, search teams looked for Odom in the area surrounding the crash.
James Odom is described as a white male who is 5 feet 6 inches, weighs 130 pounds and has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and brown coat, blue jeans and a baseball cap.
