PLAINFIELD — Minooka improved to 15-12 overall and 11-2 in the Southwest Prairie Conference Saturday at the "A" level.

In the "B" game, the Indians (14-4, 12-1) won 44-15.


WRESTLING
NIB12 J.V. Tournament

ROCHELLE — Emmet Chouinard of Morris became a 138-pound NIB12 champion this weekend. Also for the Redskins, William Ringer (152) was second, Ian Bernard (106), A.J. Vota (126) and Andrew Faught (285) were third and Alex Hildy (195) and Anthony Majcen (220) were fifth.


GRADE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
Parkside Tournament

PERU — Saratoga took fifth at the eighth-grade level this weekend, losing 25-11, 25-14 to Evans and 25-12, 25-12 to Germantown Hills before winning 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 over Brooks. The Lady Hawks (5-11) were led by Sabrina Baftiri with 3 kills, 12 points and 3 aces in the fifth-place match.

At the seventh-grade level, Saratoga was third, losing 27-25, 25-18 to Evans before beating Germantown Hils 25-20, 25-22 and Shabbona 25-17, 23-25, 25-16. Ashley Hood, with 5 kills, 16 points, 6 aces and 5 assists, led the Lady Hawks (10-3) in their final match.


Jan Dale Invitational

MARSEILLES — The Mazon-Verona-Kinsman eighth-graders lost 25-17, 25-20 to Wallace, 25-18, 25-10 to Waltham and 25-21, 23-25, 15-10 to Milton Pope this weekend.

MVK won the seventh-grade championship, defeating Putnam County 25-16, 25-14, Marquette 20-25, 25-19, 15-9 and Wallace 25-21, 22-25, 15-9.


Grand Ridge Tournament

GRAND RIDGE — The Gardner-South Wilmington (11-1) eighth-graders won 25-17, 25-10 over Woodland and 25-27, 27-25, 25-12 over St. Michael's before losing 15-25, 25-21, 26-24 to Grand Ridge for second place this weekend.
