Dist. 17 accepts deal on ExxonMobil value
CHANNAHON — The Channahon school board last week approved allowing the Superintendent Dr. Karin Evans to enter into the Will County Real Estate Assessment Agreement for the ExxonMobil property in Channahon Township for 2013-2017.
According to District 17 Finance Manager Mike Schroeder, the taxing bodies affected by the assessment met earlier this month and agreed on a tentative figure.
Taxes from ExxonMobil account for a significant part of the school district’s budget each year, and through the previous agreement, have grown from 30 percent of the district’s EAV to 57 percent in 2012. Schroeder said if the new assessment agreement is formally set in place, there will continue to be some growth, but at a slower pace.
