At last year’s Land of Lincoln Tournament, Kate Warning, of Minooka, receives a t-shirt after registering for the Chicago CHARGE speech and debate club competition at First Christian Church in Morris.

Chicago CHARGE, a speech and debate club of homeschooled students from the Chicago suburbs, returns to Morris on Feb. 14-16 to host its second annual Land of Lincoln tournament at First Christian Church, 455 W. Southmor Road, Morris.

Tournament competitors attend from communities across Illinois and the nation. Local members include Kate and Dana Warning of Minooka and Bella and Anthony Warmack of Marseilles.

The Land of Lincoln tournament and CHARGE club was warmly welcomed last year by the Morris community and FCC.

Dozens of community members are needed to volunteer as judges. This volunteering opportunity would only require 2-1/2 hours of your time to serve the students. No experience necessary. Orientation is provided prior to each judging session. There will be individual and duo speech events and team policy debate rounds on Friday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 16, and many judges are needed.

Judges are also needed on Thursday, Feb. 14 for parliamentary debate rounds.

Please call Diana Wolfson, CHARGE director, at 630-921-3657, or Deb (local CHARGE mom) at (815) 467-2838 to volunteer or to donate financially.

Registration can also be done by email at  judges06@gmail.com, for a 2-3 hour time frame of your choice, or submit online registration at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dGdJVUl0TTBQQjM2SmNZSGs4ZzFYSVE6MQ.
