(MCT) — Two people were hospitalized Sunday night after a train and car collided near Midway Airport, according to fire officials.

The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of 54th Street and Long Avenue in Garfield Ridge, fire officials said.

One woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-condition with a head injury. A baby girl was also taken to the hospital in fair-to-serious condition.

At the south end of the Long Avenue crossing, a crushed car was visible underneath the train. Police blocked off the tracks with yellow tape.

As police and train officials walked along the length of the train, a tow truck backed southward along Long, its lights flashing.
