MINOOKA — The Grundy County Chamber of Commerce will host the Family Fest 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Minooka Community High School’s Central Campus.
Family Fest provides an opportunity for all area businesses to get together in one location, and in a short period of time, promote their goods and services to a large number of prospective customers.
Attendees will view displays, visit with business representatives and pick up literature that they take home to read at a later date. Children will be able to participate in a variety of “hands-on” activities.
There are an assortment of family activities, entertainment and demonstrations, including disc golf, a ninja obstacle course, a bowling lane, story-time, the Traveling World of Reptiles, health screenings, business services and more.
In addition, Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS) will have three cars on display — a full midget car, a classic modified and a mini cup car.
At 8 a.m., there will be a pancake breakfast hosted by 5 Star Cheer Academy. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Though there is a charge for the breakfast — the rest of the event is free for attendees.
Local police, fire and rescue staff will be on-site to describe their services and answer any questions.
Families will be able to find information on youth organizations, businesses featuring services and products for families, local organizations,and much more.
Those attending will want to watch the Activities and Demonstration Stage, which will feature dance groups, cheer organizations, local talents, and fitness and safety demonstrations throughout the day.
