McBride’s helps raise funds for Ava
PLAINFIELD, Ill. — McBride’s Pub & Grille will host a fundraiser from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 for two-year-old Ava Zapp, who is in need of a kidney transplant.
There will be live music from Acoustic Avenue, raffles with big prizes including a Las Vegas trip for two. Additionally, 20 percent of all proceeds from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. will go to Ava’s New Kidney Fund.
Tracy Kvietcus-Stary, owner of McBride’s Pub & Grille, is excited to be involved in such a wonderful event and hopes that McBride’s can help as much as possible.
“I strongly believe in supporting the community as we are a family owned restaurant,” said Kvietcus-Stary.
Ava was born with the kidney disease Oligomeganephronia, which means that her kidneys did not produce filtering holes during her developmental stages. She spent the first two months of her life in the hospital, has had multiple surgeries, is on kidney dialysis and is currently on the transplant waiting list.
Although Ava’s mother, Paige Zapp, says there is no such monetary “goal,” she and her family are extremely grateful to McBride’s for hosting this event and to everyone who is helping her family.
“I just want people to be aware that (kidney disease) can happen to anyone,” said Paige.
Additionally, according to Paige, Ava does not let anything stand in her way.
“Through everything, Ava has been amazing,” Paige said. “For everything she’s gone through, she’s still the sweetest and smartest two-year-old I’ve ever met!”
The Zapp Family and McBride’s invite everyone to visit and wear green in support of kidney disease awareness and/or “Batman” related, Ava’s favorite superhero.
McBride’s Pub & Grille is located on the corner of Caton Farm and County Line Road in Plainfield.
