Mrs. Howard (Arnette) Burton, 84, of Morris, Ill., passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Thursday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2013, in Morris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Born on Aug. 11, 1928, in the home of her parents, June H. and Agnes Thorson Olson in Morris, she received her education in the Morris schools and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1946.
Arnette married Howard R. Burton on Oct. 7, 1950, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris.
She was employed as a school bus driver with the Saratoga School system for over 30 years.
Mrs. Burton was a member of the Friends In Christ Lutheran Church in Morris, as well as a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary John Martin Steele Post #6049 V.F.W.
Arnette enjoyed spending time visiting with her many friends and family, and she really enjoyed that special feeling that comes with being a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her two loving children, David, and his wife, Judy Burton, of St. Joseph, Ill., and Judi, and her husband, Rich Aldridge, of Morris, Ill.; five grandchildren, Eric Burton, Shawna (Robert) Reich, Nick (Melissa) Burton, Ryan (Crystal ) Aldridge, and Kyle (fiancee Jaclyn Rasmussen) Aldridge; 12 great-grandchildren, Kamryn (fiancee Michael Mattson) Van Hook, Berlynn, Morgan, Taylor and Payton Reich, Moriah, Madelyn, Melayna and Nolan Burton;, and Austin, Aery, and Emily Aldridge.
Also surviving are one sister, Lorayne Knapp of Morris; a sister-in-law, June Olson, of Gardner, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, on Oct. 4, 2005; one sister, Charlotte Fosen; and three Brothers, Harold, E. L. “ Butch,” and Russel Olson.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at U. C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris, Ill., where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. Philip L. Gruenbaum of the Friends in Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts directed to Arnette’s family for distribution to local charities of their choosing at a later date.
