COLLEGE: Local students receive degrees at Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa awarded an estimated 1,500 degrees at the close of the 2012 fall session. Three of those degrees were given to local students.
Among the students from the area who received degrees at the UI commencement are:
• Nicole Marie Johnson, of Channahon, who received a degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences.
• Matthew John Gronek, of Morris, who received a degree in Engineering.
• Taylor Lauren Severson, of Morris, who received a degree in Business.
Three local students named to Dean’s list at University of Iowa
IOWA CITY — Some 4,000 undergraduate students, including three local students, at the University of Iowa were named to the Dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester.
Nicole Marie Johnson, of Channahon, majoring in Liberal Arts & Sciences; Matthew John Gronek, Engineering; and Taylor Lauren Severson, Business were all named to the Dean’s list.
Undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the Tippie College of Business who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on 12 semester hours or more of UI graded course work during a given semester or summer session and who have no semester hours of I (incomplete) or O (no grade reported) during the same semester are recognized by inclusion on the Dean’s list for that semester.
Undergraduate students in the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine may qualify for the Dean’s list with fewer than 12 semester hours of graded credit if deemed appropriate by the college.
Morris student named to Dean’s list at Elmhurst College
Gregory Struck of Morris has been named to the Dean’s list for the fall term of the 2012-2013 school year at Elmhurst College. His excellent academic performance, qualified him for the Dean’s list.
All Elmhurst College students who, during a term, have attained a current grade point average of 3.75 or above are placed on the Dean’s list.
Kren named to Dean’s list at Grand Valley State University
Tamra J. Kren of Morris has been named to the Dean’s list at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. for the fall 2012 semester.
To be named to the Dean’s list, students must have maintained a 3.5 grade point average and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.
