A case was settled regarding a woman who was given too high of a dosage for her medication, which resulted in injury.

Lorraine Farcus filed suit in February 2011 in the Grundy County Circuit Court against the Grundy County Drug Company, doing business as Morris Healthmart, and Robert Funk, for a Feb. 5, 2009, incident.

Farcus had a prescription filled at Morris Healthmart. She was prescribed Prednisone and was to take one tablet twice a day for six days.

The prescription was wrongfully filled with the directions to take 10 tablets by mouth twice daily for six days.

Farcuss was provided 120 tablets, according to the case file. Because of the negligence, Farcus was injured by drug overdose.

Farcus claimed in her suit she suffered severe and permanent injuries to her digestive system and hair loss. It stated she will have continuing pain and disfigurement for the rest of her life, according to the file.

She was suing the drug company for an excess of $50,000 for medical bills.

On March 21, through a motion by Farcus, the case was dismissed with prejudice subject only to the court retaining jurisdiction to enforce the settlement agreement or to adjudicate liens.
