Published: Tuesday, April 2, 2013 8:49 a.m. CST

The Morris Library will offer a bus trip to see the presentation, “Women Making History,” at White Fence Farm on Tuesday, May 7.

The bus will leave at 11 a.m., so participants will be  asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m. to check in.  Lunch will be at noon and the show will start at 1:30 p.m.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Morris Library presents a perfect opportunity to celebrate the women in your life.  Bring your mother, wife, sister, daughter or friend to the show by Mestas Musicals.

Lori Mestas will portray famous women, such as Betsy Ross, Fanny Crosby (also known as the Queen of Gospel Song-writers), Fanny Brice of the Ziegfeld Follies, and other famous women who made their lives count and changed history.

Before the show, enjoy White Fence Farm’s famous four-piece chicken dinner, potato, coleslaw, pickled beets, kidney bean salad, cottage cheese, corn fritters and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

The cost of this bus trip is $49, which includes transportation, lunch, show, tax and gratuity. Please visit the library at 604 Liberty St., Morris, or call (815) 942-6880 to register.

AARP Driver Safety

The Morris Area Public Library will hold an AARP-sponsored Driver Safety Program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Tuesday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 17. Both days must be attended.

The cost is $12 for AARP cardholders and $14 for non-AARP cardholders.

By taking a driver safety course, you’ll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s driving environment.
