Voting now open for Greater Grundy County Readers' Choice Awards

Those who have lived in or around Grundy County for years — or even for just a few short weeks — likely have their favorite spots to go for breakfast, dinner and those oil changes they have been putting off for weeks and miles.

Those quiet, out-of-the-way places they love — as well as those busy shops they can’t wait to go back to — can now get the recognition they deserve. Voting begins today, Wednesday, May 15, in the Greater Grundy County Readers’ Choice Awards.

“As we are out in our communities, we hear from people all the time how much they love a certain restaurant or about the great service they received from a particular store. We decided instead of just telling us, it was time for our readers to tell each other about those great experiences,” explained Rich Ponulak, advertising director for the Morris Daily Herald and its sister publications.

Readers can praise those special establishments by casting votes online in one of two places — at www.morrisdailyherald.com or the new www.mymclife.com — for their favorite local service providers, recreation facilities, and places to receive necessary medical care.

To vote, readers must log on to either website, scroll down the homepage a little, and find the Greater Grundy County Readers’ Choice Awards link on the righthand side. By clicking that link, they will be able to vote in more than 50 categories ranging from dining to shopping to services. Readers do not have to vote in every category in order to participate; they can vote in as few or as many categories as they would like, but they are only permitted to vote once per day. Voting will remain open through June 15.

Our readers’ favorites will then be announced in a special section that appears Thursday, July 25, in both the Morris Daily Herald and Minooka-Channahon Life.

For additional information, or to find out how to advertise in the special section recognizing the favorite places our readers select, contact Ponulak at (815) 942-3221, ext. 2042.
