Area Roundup: Minooka track team advances four events to State finals

CHARLESTON — Alex Pierce was the lone individual to make the State cut on Friday for the Minooka track program. In the No. 3 heat of the 800 run, Pierce finished with a 1:55.37 time to qualify for Saturday’s action down in Charleston.

However, Minooka also had three relay teams make it to the second day.

The 4x800-meter relay team won the No. 1 heat with a time of 7:49.49 and the 4x100-meter relay also won the No. 1 heat with a time of :42.09. The 4x800 team for Minooka is comprised of Cam Knudsen, Joey Santillo, Chris Wilson and Pierce and the 4x100 team is made up of Devin Ingram, Ethan Cane, Luke Stoval and Jake Smith.

The other relay team — the 4x400 was second in the No. 1 heat with a time of 3:19.69. That team consists of Daniel Ingram, Pierce, Smith and Wilson.

Other Minooka performers who were there for the day but did not make it out of the preliminaries were: Cane in the long jump (21-11.25); Kurt Zumbahlen (6-2) and Peter Andreano (6-0) in the high jump; Zach Zamora in the 110-meter high hurdles (:15);  Smith in the 100-meter dash (:10.92) and Chris Wilson  in the 400-meter dash (:49.58).

The 4x200-meter relay team was qisqualified. That team was made up of Stovall, Mitch Miller, Devin Ingram and Smith.

The Finals begin on Saturday morning with the Parade of Competitors starting at 9:15 and the opening ceremonies running from 9:30-10 a.m. First events then follow at 10 a.m.

ReMax improves to 8-0 with the win.

At the plate, Ashton yard, Will Knapp, Chris Harris, Anthony Xydakis, Payton Sterritt and Christian Delgado each went 4-for-4.

Drew Danek and Matt Leone were credited with playing good defense.

Tayden Thacker, Cody Delfavero, Bennett Ammer and T.J. Rzasa led the offense for Standard Bank.

Sam Mateski, Cade Connor and Justin Newman were the standout defenders for Standard Bank.

Standard Bank 18,

Third Degree Design 8

Justin Newman, Joey Frias and Keegan Waters had three hits each in the win. Sam Mateski, Rzasa, Thacker, Ammer and Zach Smolkovich had two hits each.

Third degree was led by Justin Hemmersbach, Chris Hovious and A.J. Franzetti.

Remax Top Properties 30,

Third Degree Design 7

Knapp, Yard, Harris, Brady Danek and Gavin Quevedo were each 5-for-5 in the win.

Delgado and Mathew Leone played well defensively.

Caiden Erickson and Aaron Wills led Third Degree with three hits each.
