Lyle Eugene Boyd

PONTIAC, Ill. — Mr. Lyle Eugene “Gene” Boyd, 49 of Pontiac, Ill., and formerly of Mesa, Ariz., and Russell Springs, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

Born June 5, 1963, in Bloomington, Ill., Gene was the son of the late Orville Lyle and Sally Mae Greenwell-Boyd. He was raised and educated in Pontiac. On June 1, 1985, Gene married Mary Jane Rexroat in Pontiac.

Gene worked as a laborer with PTC Alliance in Fairbury, Ill. He was a member of 3 Tree’s Church in Russell Springs, and attended Livingston County Assembly of God Church in Pontiac.

Gene greatly enjoyed camping, fishing, horseback riding and the outdoors. He will also be remembered for his love of coin collecting, yard sales, and attending auctions.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years Mary Jane; one son, Anthony E. Boyd of Morris, Ill.; two sisters, Michele and Marnie Boyd; an aunt, Margie Greenwood of Arizona; an uncle, Raymond (Virginia) Greenwell of Fairbury; several cousins; and dear friends Charles and Margaret Sheffield and Julio and Manuela Ruiz.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Tina, in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25, from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. in Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, Wilmington, Ill. The Rev. Tim Priest from Livingston County Assembly of God will officiate.

The family will then receive friends in Kentucky on Friday, May 31, at 3 Tree’s Church, 3515 West Highway 80 in Russell Springs, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. Pastor Eric Gilbert will officiate.
