Program has Midewin buzzing
Pollinators presentation to be offered June 19-20
WILMINGTON, Ill. — Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie will celebrate National Pollinator Week with the program “Buzzing About the Prairie,” which will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19.
This program will help participants discover why bees, butterflies, other insects and birds are so important to all gardens, including the prairie.
Participants can capture some pollinators with sweep nets, get a close look at them through magnified insect containers and help plant a pollinator garden. Participants can then transfer the new-found knowledge and skills to their own garden.
If you cannot participate Wednesday, the same program is being offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at Midewin in partnership with the Elwood Children’s Garden.
Please bring a sack lunch and beverage; ice water will be provided.
To register, contact the prairie at (815) 423-6370 or via e-mail to Midewin_RSVP@fs.fed.us.
You must use the underscore in the email address, and an e-mail confirming your registration will be sent back. Please include contact information in the event we need to notify you of any cancellations or changes to the program.
All programs and events at Midewin are free and, unless otherwise stated, meet at the Welcome Center, the building with the three flagpoles in front, at 30239 S. State Route 53, Wilmington, Ill.
