As the season goes, the Market grows... especially the amount of produce offered at the 3 French Hens French Country Market in downtown Morris.
The third Market this season will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Saturday, July 13, on the banks of the historic I & M Canal, in CanalPort Park at 123 W. Washington Street.
The 3 French Hens are excited there are numerous new vendors joining them, including Diana’s Kitchen, offering homemade tacos, tamales, homemade chips, and more.
They are also thrilled Dave the Good Humor man will be rolling out his vintage ice cream truck.
This is always a hit with young and old, as everyone loves to ring the ice cream bell. What perfect timing for Dave to bring this classic out, as Cruise Night returns to the downtown streets later that afternoon.
Sugar Forest Treats will be selling another All-American favorite, specialty rice crispy treats and homemade marshmallows. The Sugar Forest girls whip up gourmet flavors such as mint chocolate chip and key lime crispies.
The weatherman has promised wonderful weather, which should be perfect for one of the newest vendors, Lo J Soy Candles. In addition, they will also be one of several new vendors offering handcrafted wooden items, including walking sticks, canes, art, & gifts.
With flower gardens in full bloom, the rusty garden art & glass garden whimsys are sure to be big hits at the July market.
The Hens would like to remind all, to please bring a small cooler in which to store their perishables so they’ll be able to stroll the numerous boutiques, pubs, and restaurants of downtown Morris after shopping the Market.
New this year, the downtown merchants have decided to get in on the fun, and will be holding their annual Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, July 13, in conjunction with the French Country Market.
And of course, as earlier mentioned, the evening brings out on average 700 to 1,000 classic and vintage rides at Cruise Night.
Just a reminder, Ottawa’s own, Walt Willey — best known as Jackson Montgomery on the daytime soap opera, All My Children — will be doing a meet and greet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Market.
Look for him off the circle, in front of the canal boat or just follow the line of star-struck fans.
Willey has graciously volunteered to attend the market as he is in the Ottawa area performing in “Deathtrap” the following weekend.
