Fern Dell to serve drive-thru dinner

Sept. 21 meal to follow Newark’s garage sales

Published: Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

Fern Dell Historic Association will sponsor a 5-B’s pork chop and chicken drive-thru dinner Sept. 21 at the Fern Dell Museum, 9 East Front St., Newark.

The event will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. following Newark’s town wide fall garage sales. Instead of going home to cook after a day of shopping, just drive up to the museum and pick up dinner.

Cost is $11 for two chops or a half chicken or a combo (one chop, one-quarter chicken). Children’s hot dog meals are also available for $4. A dinner roll, baked beans, coleslaw and applesauce are included in all meals.

Fern Dell Museum is open from 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.  Drop in to see the changes and additions that have taken place this year.

Admission is free, however, donations are always accepted. Fern Dell Historic Association has been in existence for 28 years and continues to strive to renovate buildings in Newark and keep the traditions and memories of ancestors alive.

Membership is open to anyone interested in history and ancestry.

Tickets for a drawing to possibly become the owner of a two-story colonial dollhouse are available at the museum and at Charles B. Phillips Library in Newark. The drawing for this will be Oct. 5 at the Heritage Days Festival.
