A Seneca resident was killed Tuesday evening, when his car rolled over after leaving Illinois 170 in La Salle County.

The deceased motorist has been identified as Robert Derewjanko, 56, of Seneca.

Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan, who along with the La Salle County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash, indicated the cause of the single-vehicle accident is still unclear.

Derewjanko was transported to Morris Hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Callahan, in a press release, said preliminary investigation indicated Derewjanko was southbound on Illinois 170 when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and rolled over several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

There appear to have been witnesses to the crash.

Callahan indicates more details will be released as the investigation proceeds.
