NORMAL – The Illinois State University Forensics Union took a small team to the Mid-American Forensics League tournament in Wisconsin earlier this month and placed third overall.

Several team members had great success in the competition, including ISU senior Jeremy Murphy of Morris, who placed fifth in Impromptu Speaking as well as fourth in prose, according to a news release from the school.

The ISU Forensics Union, the oldest and most successful registered student organization on campus, boasts more than 80 individual titles and 10 team titles at nationals. The team competes at tournaments in Lincoln-Douglas debate, public speaking and oral interpretation events.

Last year, ISU placed fifth at the National Forensics Association national tournament, according to the news release.
