Election petitions can be filed Nov. 25

MORRIS – Candidates planning to run in the March 18 general primary election can start filling petitions starting at 8 a.m. Nov. 25.

Offices up for nomination are county clerk, sheriff and treasurer and County Board members in Districts 1, 2 and 3, according to a news release from Grundy County Clerk Lana Phillips.

Precinct committeemen also will be filing for election.

Simultaneous filings for the same office at 8 a.m. Nov. 25 will result in a lottery to determine ballot placement.

Petition packets received through the mail Nov. 25 will be considered filed at 8 a.m. Filings are accepted through Dec. 2.

Those who file on the last day between the hours of 4 and 5 p.m. also will be entered into a lottery to determine ballot placement.

The county clerk’s office is in Room 12 at the courthouse, 111 E. Washington St., Morris. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The office will be closed Nov. 28 and 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
