CHICAGO  – A 91-yard run on their second play from scrimmage. A 99-yard touchdown drive. Two players with at least 180 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Seneca Fighting Irish mixed those ingredients together Saturday afternoon and produced the blowout one might expect. They defeated Robeson 46-6 in the second round of the Class 3A football playoffs at Gately Stadium.

Bo Taylor ran 91 yards on the second Irish offensvie play and they never looked back, building a 20-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Taylor scored additoinal touchdowns on runs of 9 and 5 yards before the end of the first half and finished with 180 yards on 17 carries.

Teammate Tommy Lovett outdid Taylor, running 22 times for 204 yards. He also scored three times, on runs of 53, 4 and 31 yards. Alex Thornley added a late 26-yard touchdown run to invoke the running clock.

Seneca's defense did not allow Robeson to score  – its only touchdown came on a kickoff return  – and allowed 179 total yards. The Irish forced two turnovers  – fumbles that were recovered by Bryce Coyle and Brad Wyss  – and got sacks from Matt Johnson and Dayton Coyle.

Next up for the sixth-seeded Irish is a quarterfinal match-up with defending 3A champion and 10th-seeded Aurora Christian, which defeated Oregon 49-20 Saturday night. The game will be hosted by Seneca.
