Morris girls bowlers beat Ottawa

Morris defeated Ottawa 3,147-2,463 in its first Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference girls bowling match of the season Tuesday at Echo Lanes.

“It was nice to get the first match out of the way and come out with the win,” Morris coach Harry Banks said. ”

Taylor Warwick had game totals of 164, 223 and 197 for a Morris-best 584 series, and Benson had a 205, a 206 and a 160 to finish at 571.

Morris won all three games, 998-810, 1,091-788 and 1,058-865.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GSW 71,

Reed-Custer 69

Kyle Robison’s 25 points and 14 rebounds, along with 15 points from Blake Marks and 12 points from Tristan Noonan, led Gardner-South Wilmington (1-3) on Tuesday.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our guys for staying the course and overcoming adversity.” GSW coach Chris Gibson said.

“After suffering two heartbreaking losses last week, we responded on our home floor and played well enough to get a win.”

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Seneca 67,

Dwight 36

Fourteen points from Mallory Misener, 11 points from Rylee Anderson and Danielle Hauch, nine points from Anna Baker and eight points from Jacey Lamboley paced Seneca (4-1, 1-0) on Monday in the Interstate Eight Conference.

Dwight 51,

St. Anne 37

Alyson Wiemken led the way with 24 points, six rebounds and four steals and Savannah Baldauf chipped in 12 points Tuesday for Dwight (1-5).

WRESTLING

Seneca vs. Aurora Central Catholic, Ottawa

Seneca split Tuesday, defeating ACC, 48-12, and losing, 41-27, to Ottawa. Kyle Sigmon (132 pounds) and Zach Russell (170 pounds) won twice each by fall, and Cole Klicker (152 pounds), Bryce Coyle (160 pounds), Dayton Coyle (182 pounds) and Jakub Goslin (195 pounds) also were double winners. Wyatt Rodriguez (fall, 48 seconds; 220 pounds) and Tyler Draine (forfeit; 113 pounds) won versus ACC only.

Coal City vs. Mt. Zion, Pontiac

Coal City was swept Tuesday, falling, 34-25, to Mt. Zion and, 40-25, to Pontiac. Riley Kauzlaric (182 pounds) of Coal City won twice by fall. He was joined in winning twice by Joey Rivera (106/113 pounds), Matt Girot (120/126 pounds), Cody Minnick (120/126 pounds) and Jake Frost (195 pounds).

BOYS BOWLING

Minooka 3,137,

Oswego 3,098

Alex Guglielmucci bowled a 668 series, with a 257 first game, to pace Minooka on Tuesday in the Southwest Prairie Conference. All six Minooka bowlers were above 200 in the first game as the Indians’ counters totaled a 1,121, and four others (Kai Devine, 617; Chris Dombrowski, 614; John Kaufmann, 608; Zach Segatto, 608) finished above 600.

JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL

Shabbona 26,

Reed-Custer 25

Nathan Wantland scored 10 points and Collin Kingsbury had 6 points Tuesday for the Shabbona eighth-grade boys.

Saratoga 39,

St. Mary’s (Pontiac) 26

The Saratoga eighth-graders (4-4) won Tuesday behind 13 points from Jett Walker and 9 points from Tyler Spiezio.

Saratoga’s seventh-graders (6-1) lost, 23-20, in spite of 11 points from Jacob Overbeck and 9 points from Chad Heren.

ICS 29,

Saratoga 24

Seven points each from Briar Russell and Walker led Saratoga on Monday in the eighth-grade game.

Overbeck had 14 points in a 35-16 seventh-grade win for Saratoga.

The Saratoga sixth-grade “A” team (4-5) won, 36-17, behind 12 points from Cole Laurie and 11 points from Zach Reddinger. Saratoga’s “B” team (2-7) lost, 23-17, even though Cody Brummel had 11 points.

Seneca 32,

Marseilles 26

Seneca (12-4) won the eighth-grade game Tuesday behind 13 points from Lyda Robinson and 8 points from Morgan Pifer.
