Ten grams of silver donated in We Care kettles

MORRIS – We Care of Grundy County found 10 grams of silver in the kettles Friday morning from Thursday night’s bell ringing collection at Jewel.

Employees from the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District were ringing the bell at that time, according to a news release from We Care. Each gram is worth about 62 cents.

Because of fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and some bad weather causing a cancellation, the Red Kettle Drive is running behind in donations this year. We Care would like to encourage everyone to throw a little something extra in the kettles, which will be at Jewel and Wal-Mart through Monday.

We Care uses 80 percent of the funds raised in Grundy County to help with utilities and rent assistance. The remainder of the money goes to The Salvation Army regional headquarters in Peoria to do good works throughout the state.
