Local attorney named 'Rising' Star' in Illinois magazine
MORRIS – Local attorney Bryan Shell recently was recognized by his peers for the second year in a row as a “Rising Star” attorney by “Illinois Super Lawyers” magazine.
This designation is limited to less than 2.5 percent of lawyers younger than 40 years old in the state, according to a news release. Shell is an associate with Block, Klukas & Manzella in Joliet. He focuses on workers compensation and personal injury cases in Cook, Dupage, Grundy, LaSalle and Will counties, representing plaintiffs in resolving permanent total disability and wage discrimination issues through litigation, mediation, arbitration and alternative resolution techniques.
Shell is a certified mediation specialist who has been published in several mediation journals. He earned his mediation certification at Hamline School of Law, which is ranked among the top five mediation programs in the country.
One of his cases resulted in an award to the plaintiff of more than $250,000 because of the findings of permanent and total disability stemming from aggravation of an underlying condition.
During his earlier work with the Minnesota Innocence Project, which protects the rights of people who have been wrongfully imprisoned, Shell was able to secure new evidence that allowed a prisoner who had been facing a life sentence to appeal his case.
Shell is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Will County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
He graduated from Hamline University School of Law in 2008, where he was on the dean’s list. He also was captain of his regional team during the American Mock Trial Association’s prestigious Mock Trial National Championship Tournament.
Shell will appear in the February 2014 “Illinois Super Lawyers” magazine.
He resides in Morris with his wife, Jennifer, and two daughters, Macy and Madelyn.
