On Valentine's Day, the staff and student body of MVK Middle School formed a giant heart in the gymnasium in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week.

MAZON – Students of Mazon-Verona-Kinsman Middle School in Mazon were doing kind acts on a daily basis last week in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week.

RAK is the week of Feb. 14 each year and is a time when all are encouraged to incorporate kindness into their daily lives. Students and staff at MVK participated in thematic dress-up attire each day, the students responded daily to a “kindness quote” and teachers incorporated kindness-themed lessons into the weekly curriculum.

Additionally, students were encouraged to both offer and acknowledge acts of kindness throughout the week: the oldest students were paired with the youngest for a reading buddies activity; a door decorating contest was held; money was collected to help the Mazon Food Pantry and a local family; and cards were written to soldiers and nursing home residents.

On Valentine’s Day, the staff and student body formed a giant heart in the gymnasium, the culminating activity for the week.
