Grundy County Earth Expo set Saturday

MORRIS – The 23rd annual Grundy County Earth Expo will be held this weekend.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Saratoga School, 4040 N. Division St. in Morris the public is invited to this community event sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension, Grundy County Unit.

It features environmental, health, agriculture, technology, and safety exhibits and activities for fairgoers of all ages.

Now in its 23rd year, this event is unique in its purpose of providing education and community awareness, and offers a variety of informative and entertaining presentations and activities, according to a news release from the Extension.

This year, two new shows will be featured.

At 10:30 a.m. enjoy the Cold Blooded Creatures show and come back for the Incredible Bats at 12:30 p.m.

Attendance is free, but donations of nonperishable food items and pet food for We Care of Grundy County will be gratefully accepted.

The goal of the event is to foster community awareness and education on E.A.R.T.H. issues: Environment, Agriculture, Rescue, Technology and Health.

The event planning committee is made up of individuals from AkzoNobel, LyondellBasell, Grundy County Farm Bureau, Grundy County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Shaklee, along with the University of Illinois Extension.
