Dr. Deena Raval, rheumatologist, has joined the medical staff at Morris Hospital.

MORRIS – A third rheumatologist joined the medical staff at Morris Hospital last month.

Dr. Deena Raval is seeing patients Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Morris Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, located at 1345 N. Edwards St. on the hospital campus. Raval’s office hours complement Dr. Hadi Hedayati, a rheumatologist who sees patients in the same office Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, resulting in full-time rheumatology services in Morris.

Morris Hospital also provides rheumatology services at its Channahon Healthcare Center, 25259 Reed St. in Channahon, with Dr. Janet Leon.

Rheumatologists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis, management and treatment of musculoskeletal and rheumatic disease, including osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, bursitis, gout/pseudogout and lupus. Many of these conditions are characterized by joint pain and inflammation, muscle soreness and stiffness, according to a news release from the hospital.

A native of Oswego, Raval received her medical degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove. She completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University and a two-year fellowship in rheumatology at Midwestern University. She is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. Raval was in private practice in the suburbs for three years before joining Morris Hospital.

She said patients can expect a personalized approach and comprehensive medical review when they see her in the office setting.

“Treating the body as a whole helps me identify other conditions that might be affecting a patient’s health,” Raval said in the release. “That is why I focus on getting to know the patient and making sure I have an understanding of the full picture.”
