EIU announces more than

820 Fall 2013 graduates

CHARLESTON – Degrees have now officially been awarded to more than 820 Fall 2013 graduates at Eastern Illinois University.

Local graduates are:

Alije Fejzoski, Matthew Smith, Molly Connon, Stefani Noethe, and Teala Irons all of Morris; Melissa Muser of Coal City and Tyler Shanks of Seneca.

University of Iowa

Dean’s List announced

IOWA CITY, IA – Some 4,000 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the Dean’s List for the 2013 fall semester including three Morris students.

Amy Matteson, Taylor Severson and Matthew Gronek, all of Morris, made the list.

Undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the Tippie College of Business who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on 12 semester hours or more are recognized by inclusion on the Dean’s List for that semester.

Local Students Receive Academic Honors at Saint Mary’s College

NOTRE DAME -- Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN, named the following students to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2013 semester:

Grace Kumor, daughter of Stanley and Marcie Kumor of Morris; and Nicole Weaver, daughter of Curtis Weaver of Morris, and Betty Aarnio of Channahon.

To earn academic honors at Saint Mary’s, a student must achieve a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale, have at least 12 graded credit hours, no incompletes, and no grades lower than a C.

Saint Mary’s College is a four-year, Catholic, residential, women’s liberal arts college offering five bachelor’s degrees and more than 30 major areas of study, such as business, nursing, art, chemistry, and social work.

Local resident named to Dean’s List at Texas State

San Marcos, Texas -- Rachel Nicole Chaney of Morris has been named to the fall 2013 Dean’s  List at Texas State University.

To be named to the Dean’s List a student must earn a minimum grade-point average of 3.50 while carrying a class load of at  least 12 semester hours.

Texas State is an emerging research university located in the Austin-San  Antonio corridor on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. With an enrollment  of 5,568 it is the largest campus in the Texas State University System and has been named one of America’s Best Value Colleges by the Princeton Review.
