Joliet woman killed in head-on crash Monday

A Joliet woman was killed in a crash Monday afternoon when the vehicle she was a passenger in was involved in a head-on crash with a vehicle allegedly driven by a drunken driver.

The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. Monday at Route 52 and Brisbin Road in Kendall County, according to a news release from Illinois State Police District 5.

Susan Bedenk, 56, of Serena was driving a Camaro west on Route 52 and a Silverado with two people in it was going east on Route 52, just east of Brisbin Road.

The passenger of the Silverado, Susan Jones, 66, of Joliet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bedenk was charged with driving under the influence and further charges are pending, according to the news release.
