Paul Branshaw, Bill Washburn, Joanne Woiteshek, Phil Branshaw were presenters at the Minooka Women's Club meeting held earlier this month.

MORRIS – Speakers at the April 1 meeting of the Minooka Women’s Club were associates from Interactive Financial Advisors.

The club members received some financial planning advice. Phil Branshaw acted as moderator of the group and told the club he started out preparing personal taxes and soon realized he had to learn more about the opportunities individuals have for handling their finances.

The firm prides themselves on dealing with people on a personal, individual and family basis with no client considered too small. Joanne Woiteshek spoke on “Women and Money,” Phil’s son, Paul, talked about the different avenues and interests of the firm and William Washburn, an attorney, spoke about Wills and Trusts and the importance and differences between them.

During the club business meeting, members learned April will be a busy month.  Nancy Skwarczynski, Education Chairperson, will be taking treats to the teachers’ lounge at Minooka Elementary School on Coady Drive for Teacher Appreciation Week.  She also will be present at Minooka High School Honors Night, where she will award seven girls scholarships that the club is responsible for distributing.

Essays on the subject of what the girls’ thought was the role of a community service group and how they saw their future involvement in community service, were submitted by 39 applicants.

Some of the members also will be involved in the Minooka Village Clean-up Day Saturday.

The club’s next meeting is May 4, and it will be a bus trip to Eatly in Chicago.  The day also will involve a short business meeting and installation of two officers, Donna Chesko as treasurer and Nita Caruso as secretary. All women of Minooka, Channahon and Shorewood are invited to join the club and information can be found at www.minookawomensclub.com or by emailing mwc60447@gmail.com.
